Julie Collins

Born in Lincolnshire UK 19th December 1973 Julie Collins
I was introduced to music through my parents my father was a drummer & footballer my mother ( now deceased) worked For The Times newspaper & also wanted to sing but she in her own words agreed she didn't have the passion for it. At 3 I was taking dance classes & appearing in shows which I did up until I left school, I performed with my school West Sussex Theatre Studios in Worthing UK in many shows & appeared as an extra in tv & film, all throughout my teens & 20's i auditonrd for girl bands & film & tv work I was always out there!  I  moved to Tenerife after I left school  where I impersonated a famous star for a little while, when I came home I auditioned
To be a Red Coat ( big gig in UK) 4000 people auditioned 30 picked I got it I loved it but it was hard work, sir Cliff was a redcoat lol, I was in many bands & wrote "This this world around" this was the first song I wrote. I was offered a place in an all girl hand but I knew I wanted to be alone, I always take the hard way!! I turned it down, in 1991 yes 1991 I was discovered at a karaoke bar in Brighton by a man called Sir David Land ( he discovered Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber & Sir Tim Rice,) he ran the Theatre royal in Brighton & invited me to audition for Cinderella pantomime, I got it, so thought I'd made it I was due to audition for the westend but I caught the flu & had to drop out, I was gutted but I carried on.. After this I appeared in The Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, Wimbledon & I also starred in a film by The Heather Brothers called Bullets Buzz & Mr Fish, I played a singer in a band ( typecasting lol) this film could still be released! Also had lots of small parts on US tv that I've never seen! Then I saw ad in NME looking for the next big thing, I sent my tape. Yes tape to Stuart Collins ( no relation, can u believe that, thanks to my name this guy gave me a chance!) I signed a 5 year deal in 1999 the same year my mum got cancer I so wanted to share my dream with her, but she fought for 4 years so so did I, I went to LA shot my video that you see at Myspace, and did some promotional gigs. My 1st single was a Beatles cover "Something" ( thanks to Olivia Harrison & Wesley Magoogan for producing it) I was due to go on The Jay Leno show & a tour was getting arranged but my mum took a turn for the worse & I came home because my mum is/was everything to me, the CEO of the record company Arty Mogul (discovered Bob Dylan) also died from cancer, so since 2006 I've been recording quietly in my bedroom battled depression & grief & joined Twitter where I met Ladd a film director from the USA the land where dreams cone true! He liked my songs Turn this world around & Talk dirty and asked if they could be in his film The Hive Mind, I'm only too happy my songs are in it! Then he asked if I would play the voice of Hive Mind!!! Woo hooo again I'm am elated & humbled to be so lucky and grateful to Ladd for seeing my potential, so that's my life so far, very watered down version!
